The journey Easy to reach. The Bothy is situated on Rudyard Lake in the Churnet Valley on the Cheshire Staffordshire border - a lovely drive through spectacular views over patchwork fields, past dry stone walls and rugged sheep. Take the A523 for 2 miles north of Leek. Turn onto the B5331 to Rudyard Village. On reaching the roundabout painted in the road, turn right and go up the steep hill (keep the war memorial on your right). This feels like you are going away from the lake but this is correct. Continue up the hill until you reach a very sharp left hand bend. Turn right on this bend onto Reacliffe Road- there is a Private Road, 10MPH and Yacht club sign. Continue downhill, at the bottom there is a bend to the left, as you turn this you will see the lake on your right and the Bothy is the 4th property on the right. There is a recessed parking area on the right for one car and directly opposite the 2nd car space. There is parking for only 2 vehicles. Marvel at how far away you can be in such a short time. |
